S1R + TTArtisan 50mm F0.95 The Good, the Bad and the Lovely
6

Had set my heart on a mint Leica Noctilux 50mm F1, but at the last minute bottled out and went for a TTArtisan at a fraction of the price. Early days yet but it shows promise with a MF look courtesy of that creamy bokeh.

Contrast is poor at F0.95 so you have to work the 'sliders'. Sharpness is very good, better than I expected. Sort of soft-sharp as Matt Osborne describes. However, colour is warm.

This lens definitely has character, with a surprisingly good build quality and a nice clicky aperture ring. Focus is smooth but a little stiff.

Shot on the S1R with a 'cheap' Fotasy M to L adaptor. Oddly the much more expensive Novoflex adaptor I tried had too much play and I had to return it.

All images below processed for increased contrast and vignette added. Does it match a new Leica Noctilux at £9,850, probably not, but at £645 who cares. . .

TTArtisan 50mm F0.95 @ 0.95

TTArtisan 50mm F0.95 @ 0.95

TTArtisan 50mm F0.95 @ 0.95

TTArtisan 50mm F0.95 @ F2 (I think)
