Canon EL-1 ... wow!

I love Canon speedlights and we currently own ...

430exRTIII x7

600exRT x5

We run the 600's on stands and fire them from the right-sized 430RT on-camera flashes (they contain full RT master controls). Often, we have 2 photographers hammering on the same 600's (purchased upon their original release). After 6 wedding seasons, the 600's are still going at it, but we tire of managing the AA and external-pack power supplies.

Enter the EL-1! The battery goes forever, and the build and flash quality is a step up. If our 600's have lasted 6 years, these EL-1's will go 10+

The little LED light is a nice touch to light up dark stairways when shooting with clients at night and helps see what you're shooting at night (helpful if you're shooting with a dSLR with the benefits of EVF amplication).

Canon's v2 user interface for RT (as on the 430RT's) allows you to get around controls quicker and the EL-1's new joystick speed things up even more.

The EL-1 flashhead is indeed large, but MagMod magnetic ears fit (aided by strong fingers when installing) so all of our 600 modifiers transferred over.

After shooting almost a dozen stress-free weddings with two stand-mounted EL-1's we're ordering two more and plan to start letting go our 600's.

Highly recommended!
