Re: Nikkor 70-300 afp DX 4.5-6.3 on Z Cams

I bought a Nikon-refurbished AF-P 70-300 DX from Adorama nearly two years ago based upon a favorable review on Thom Hogan's website. Despite being sharp, it had very noticeable purple CA similar to your examples. Online reviews at the time did not mention this issue, so I contacted Adorama and arranged for an exchange for a different refurbished copy of this lens.

Lens #2 was a night/day improvement, no noticeable CA, even sharper toward 300 mm. A keeper. I've since used this lens with excellent results on my D500 and on my Z7ii with a FTZ adapter in DX mode.  I purchased this lens as a lightweight overseas travel solution (e.g. trips to the Dolomites, Alps).  On the Z7ii the resulting resolution is essentially the same as my D500, which is fine for my travel photography needs.

I chalked this experience up to getting a bad copy for Lens #1.  A good copy of this lens is really good.  Hope that this helps.
