If you're still looking for a good replacement for the kit lens, I strongly recommend the Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 Contemporary. I've been using this lens for the last 5 or 6 years, and it's been on several bodies, from my original T3i, 60D, 77D and now my 80D.

It has better reach and a little wider than your kit lens, and the image quality is excellent. It has a nice zoom range as well, and the image stabilization is very effective. You can usually get a used copy in excellent condition for around $300.

The 17-85 you linked above is not a good lens. It was replaced by the 15-85, and is much better, although still fairly expensive.
