GX9 Wifi Question

I bought a new GX9 + kit lens at the beginning of this month and have so far been having a good time learning its features and settings.  I'm using an iPhone 6 Plus (don't laugh, it's much faster than my much newer S7 Edge) for the Panasonic Image App and have it working correctly for GPS functions, automated date, etc.

Having read the manual extensively, I am not able to find a way to turn the Wifi function on the camera to OFF.  In other words, the blue light is always on.  I assume running a WiFi access point 100% of the time is not great for battery life.  Am I misunderstanding the meaning of the light?  Is there a way to turn off WiFi when it's not needed or desired?

Thank you!
