A few Ducks from Far North Queensland

Hello,

The Ducks are starting to arrive at Hastie's Swamp National Park. By the end of May, there will be several thousand( up to 5000 or more,I am told) Whistling Ducks and a few hundred Magpie Geese. When you first arrive,it looks like a one species show. If you hang around for a while, you will see another 6 or 7 species of ducks mixed in with the Whistling ducks. Here are a few. The sound this many ducks together produce is amazing to hear.

The Freckled Duck  is the rarest duck in Australia ( according to Graham Pizzey-Birds of Australia)

I prefer the old name for this duck (Zebra  duck instead of Pink-Eared Duck)

This Australian Little Grebe seems to be bouncing on the water.
