Why all these f.1,4 lenses?

I would be grateful if you could share your opinion about the increasing presence of high speed lenses such f.1.4 ( or even f.1,0 ) in the Fujifilm X line.

IMOO there is no need of expensive and big lenses, because the actual technical standards of the APS-C cameras (Fujifilm above all) does not require big lenses to obtain good results in low light condition. On the other hand, assuming that you are willing to obtain images with a very short depth of field , you may as well obtain similar results with an f.2.

I suspect that there is a commercial choice behind this: the manufacturers have to create "precious" lenses that may attract those who want to get the "absolute possible best".

The consequence of this attitude is that we are facing new expensive objects, while the optical quality may not necessarily be the optimum (it's less complex to make an excellent 35mm f.1,8 that a 35mm f.1,2).

I apologize for my poor English, I really hope that I could make myself understood!!
