Photoshop clone stamp tool

Hi guys. When using the clone stamp tool, if I've painted/brushed let's say a duplicate of an object in another area of the photo but I've over brushed in some extra bits surrounding the object from the clone that I don't want, what's the best way to remove those, would it be the spot healing brush or is there a quicker more effective way?
