Camera Pixels, Lens Resolving Power, Pixel Size, HD TV Viewing ?
1

Current gear (80D, 70-300II), completely checked and repaired by Canon.

I never print images, been there and done that, not for me. Everything is either viewed online or on a HD TV's.

Since both of these viewing options require no more than 3 megapixels, I reckon, (HD TV 2MP).

Why do images taken with 300mm lens and then cropped down to 3 megapixels look terrible on the TV?

I read this article but need to know what I need to get results I want with heavy cropping and TV viewing.

Do I need a lens with better resolving power, do I need a camera with larger pixels, do I need special post processing (a real negative for me) ?

Thanks
