Editing still images in Affinity Photo in conjunction with Hardware acceleration in version 1.9

I’m upgrading my computer, and I’m wondering what advantage, if any, does hardware acceleration offer to a mainly stills photographer like myself.

The processing of stills photography in Affinity is done, as far as I can ascertain, in the CPU. The GPU plays little or part at all. If this is the case, I see no reason to install a dedicated GPU and run instead with a processor featuring an integrated graphics card.

My proposed spec will be an i7 11th gen with an integrated Graphics card, or the equivalent AMD Ryzen 5 3400G processor.

I think that I’m on the right track but would appreciate confirmation from those better qualified than I.

Thanks

Bill
