Need help with picking a photo scanner for 4-5,000 family photos

I've looked at scanning services but with this many photos the cost seems at least triple of the cost of a new scanner (though it does not account for my time).

I am looking for a scanner with an automatic feeder (Epson seems to have an ff-680w for about $600-650; not sure on its availability).

Does anyone have any experience with this scanner?

---Is there another option (scanner or service) to consider?

Virtually all of the photos are 4"x6" or 3 1/2"x5". I will have to take them out of the photo albums to arrange, stack and scan (and keep them in separate files by date).

Thank you.
