Funny behaviour of M5 af with old EF lenses

I am fairly new to the Eos M5, but I have a number of old(er)  EF lenses I also use adapted on my Sony A7Rii. It seems that the M5 always prefocuses, other than the A7 (there it is a menu item).

When I have one of the oldies (EF 24 f/2.8, 35 f/2) with the EF>M adapter on my camera, it keeps on buzzing and focussing. Same with less noisy lenses like the EF 40 f/2.8 and 50/ f/1.8 STM lenses, however there it is less audible and visible.

Is this a menu item I can't find (RTFM?) or natural behaviour on the M5?
