Blue face honey eater

This is one my cat brought almost to the back door for me.  Not on purpose, the bird was scolding the cat and she wanted to get in the house.

less than three meters from me.

The bird was in a paw paw tree and was focused on the cat.  She just wanted to get inside.  The cat had to wait for me to get some pictures.

I didn't even check the camera setting.

It was literally a case of f 8 and be there.

It is only the male that has the blue patch of skin around the eye.

He kept moving around and looking around.

I think this is the only photo that I cropped.  It was one last look and fly.

After I let the cat in, I had a look up to find the bird that I could hear.

The rainbow lorikeet had come for the flowers in the peanut tree.

After the first flash, it stopped long enough to look at me.

It was about 10 degrees off vertical and around 8 or 9 meters up.

The cattleya orchid has been in the same pot for over 20 years.  It smells like boiled candy.
