What flash/lighting equipment should I use for nighttime owl shots?

I have an Canon R5 and EF 500/F4 II and am about to venture from daytime into night time owl photography.  For starters, at least, I'm not trying to capture birds in flight - merely to get some nice perched shots of some known screech and barred owls.  I'm wondering the best flash or continuous light source that I should purchase (within reason, of course), as well as how to best hook this up to a tripod/gimbal mount/lens so that my hands are free and not encumbered with holding the gear.

Thanks!
