Article on B&W digital photography
1

Came across this in my news feed:

https://petapixel.com/2021/04/09/are-black-and-white-only-digital-cameras-crazy-in-this-day-and-age/

Setting aside the fact that it made my heart hurt when the author cited Wikipedia for the definition of "achromatic" (seriously, can't figure that one out on your own?) -- I thought this was an interesting read, with some great photographs that illustrate the power of B&W photography.

I tend to do B&W in film (mostly 35mm) and shoot most of my color pics with digital. I think my digicam makes great B&W photos but they're a little "too perfect" for my liking -- but this article gives me new appreciation for the detail that digital can bring to B&W. Also expands my horizons a bit for MF B&W -- more ordinary subjects can look rather extraordinary rendered with that sort of resolution.

That said, I don't know if I could bring myself to buying a dedicated B&W digital camera.

Thoughts, anyone?

Aaron
