Capturing such small birds is very difficult. They usually are very alert and jumpy, also their size is very hard to shoot especially with a 18-150. Here we have sparrows but they are very smart, even with hiding and waiting it is hard to shoot them (albeit with a camera!)
It seems that robins are beautiful exceptions.
On my usual walk I have to take the 70-300mm to get anything decent, but this Robin was near "The Major Oak" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_Oak ) of Robin Hood fame in Sherwood Forest, they get 350k+ visitors a year so I presume the birds are used to people.
Great nice places you have to walk . Robin Hood is popular worldwide even in here (mostly from the beloved Disney's cartoon). Is the bird's name a coincidence?
I am very lucky to live in the heart of Sherwood forest, many walks etc.
Indeed! I am in the heart of a jungle too, but a boring concrete one! Reaching refreshing beautiful places to walk needs time and riding...
The stream Robin and Little John had the fight over is a few miles away, one of the outlaws is supposed to be buried in the local chuchyard and Maid Marion stayed at a cottage up the road.... or so they say.
I am rrally curious to know that the mentioned animation (the one with a very cheerful music, in which Robin and Marion were foxes, little John a bear and PJ a lion) was made upon real places and scenes or was just fictitious?
Just a coincidence on the name
If Robin Hood exsisted as one person, or an amalgamation of many over years is up to debate. WIKIP have a lot to say. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Hood
The areas mentioned in the films exist, the big fair (Goose Fair) still happens every year, although no longer in the Market Square, its now just down the road, a lot more space.
The castle has recently had a lot of money spent on it, but its not really a castle, more a stately home.
Sherwood Forest is about 15 miles from the town so a good few hours horse ride back in the day.
We still have a sheriff, no power today, the position is entirely ceremonial and sustained to boost tourism.
