RF100-500 vs EF100-400 mk.2 review by Jan Wegener (April 9th 2021)

I thought the latest Jan Wegener video comparing the RF100-500 vs EF100-400 mk.2 with and without extenders would be of interest to many on this forum.

No big surprises but he makes some good points with pictures to show the difference.

My take-aways:

RF100-500 is sharper. This is particularly true if you use a Canon 1.4x extender to get the EF100-400 to 560mm. Having the RF100-500 is likely having a 1.4x extender built-in.

RF extenders are a pain to use which is a plus for EF lenses with EF extenders (already knew that). But the RF1.4x extender has good image quality paired with the RF100-500.

Most non-pixel peepers will be perfectly happy with the EF100-400 with and without the extender, but the RF100-500 is obviously better by comparison.
