R vs M thread...

We have plenty of these sidebar discussions for various reasons around here, however, I thought I'd bring up a couple salvos and open the discussion up for those who have used both on their thoughts...

The R:

RF 24-105 f/4-7.1 IS STM (a lens Canon will never make in equivalence for the M e.g. EF-M 15-75 f/2.5-4.5)

RF 28-70 f/2L, a favorite of mine, is lethal against other FF systems in its own right.

RF f/1.4 or faster lenses; these simply do not and never will exist in equivalence on the M.

RF DO lenses; another unique advantage given Canon R&D is geared toward R, not M.

IBIS; will it ever arrive for the M?

The M:

EF-M 22mm f/2: Tiny pancake, no way to get an RF "package" this small

EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM: Optical perfection; Canon compares it to superior to the EF 35mm f/1.L II

EF-M 11-22: Again tiny, but lack of coatings make it less "pop" than RF wide angle 15-35 f/2.8L and future RF-L optics.

EF-M 18-150: More portable than the RF 24-240 which isn't.

M6 II and M200: really tiny with no EVF

EF-M 55-200: surprisingly good for it's price, size

Now I've always argued each system stands on it's own. That said with recent movement on behalf of Canon discontinuing EF glass rapidly, the M is clearly next. I personally am not convinced one is better than another, but curious peoples thoughts and perspective on use cases, and unique advantages each system has. Keep civil, please. We're amongst friends here, this isn't some Brand X vs Brand Y here, we're all (guests welcome) Canon shooters...
