Tamron 24-70mm VC Di Soft at F/2.8

Hi there.

I bought a secondhand Tamron 24-70mm F/2.8 VC Di for the Nikon F-Mount, and using it on my Nikon D7500. I am experiencing an issue with the autofocus on the lens. At aperture F/2.8, if I set the focal length to anything more than 24mm, the image comes out a little soft, but at 24mm, its perfectly fine. I am able to use an aperture of F/4 or greater at all other focal lengths without any issues. I am a bit confused about what's happening, since if it was an internal problem, wouldn't the pictures be blurry at all focal lengths and apertures? I am considering sending it to a repair shop but really don't have the budget for that as I am only 17 and spent my money on this lens :).

Any advice is appreciated.
