Osprey Porter 30

Martin,

At 30L the Osprey Porter 30 is slightly larger, but on the other hand it’s “straight jacket” feature can be cinched down to more compact when you don’t need the full volume.

These are very well made and, although not harnessed like a Deuter, it is the most comfortable pack I have ever had and suffices well for my kind of urban and nature hikes...I bought mine for our last trip to Japan in 2018nfor the planes and trains; I packed it with a Peak Design Everyday Sling 5L for my camera gear, a light jacket, toiletries, medications and accessories — it was heavy but my bad back was happy. I think that your laptop will probably fit, but you should check the dimensions for yourself.

They are made in two torso lengths (and make two larger packs as well), here is the full spec sheet on the Porter series so that you can get all the critical measurements: https://www.osprey.com/user_manuals/OM_Porter_F17_ENG.pdf

I think I paid US$120 for mine, but unbelievably I just saw these online for $84 in the grey and teal colors: https://www.moosejaw.com/product/osprey-porter-30-backpack_10343459
