Whales in Baja Sur often come right up to the boat so one would need a camera with a wider FL.

Having stabilisation would help a lot, of course. I brought only the old and underrated X-S1 to Mexico last year, a 4 week whale-watching trip.

Was that Bahia Magdalena. When we were there it would have been best to have two cameras, one with 100-400 and one with 16-55 or even 10-24.
