if canon to introduce a MF camera, i don't think they will recoup their return on investment because of very small demand by professionals. if in fact there was enough demand for such thing, canon would have introduced one long time ago. this is not time to venture into unknown, as canon already knows that.
I agree with you on the MF camera aspect . But think of a Canon version of the Contax G system . Compact AF primes . And yes , Canon has been venturing into the unknown lately . I suppose you've seen those cameras Canon got to crowdfund in it's home turf , Japan . Those cameras made sense for some buyers in Japan , enough people to pay for the initial batch .
however, the pole reflects my opinion! no, canon hasn't been venturing into unknown, if mean ML technology by that, it has been around for a long time and people wanted it overwhelmingly! i was talking about MF in my post, pacifically. there is very little demand for MF format.
i am very sure canon/nikon have very professional marketing departments who figure things out where the money is
regards.
Sorry , I didn't want to be rude . The thing is , in Japan , the Japanese market is called by the Japanese themselves "Galapagos Market" . What they mean by that is , there are products in Japan that wouldn't make sense outside Japan , and yet sometimes Japanese companies hit the jackpot , and these "Galapagos Products" become Global .
Isn't that true of most markets? For example, I know Americans love the full size pickup trucks, but hardly anyone else wants those monsters.
Yes and no . Every market has it's quirks . The Japanese market might have too many quirks . I think that of the G7 countries , Japan , is the only country where the Whatsapp messenger app is not widely used . Indeed , most Japanese do not know Whatsapp . Here in Japan the predominant messaging app is Line , which is mostly used only in Asian countries , excluding mainland China .
