I’m getting a feeling that Pentax’s marketing is aimed at repositioning itself as a niche purely optical viewfinder camera maker in the face of mass market onslaught by the mirrorless techno giants. Regaining its cache from the 1960s. Maybe not too dissimilar to what Leica manages to sustain with its brand image. For APS-C this goes hand in hand with limited lenses. Given this I don’t understand discontinuance of the KP unless a KP II is waiting in the wings at a similar price point. Success of  the inevitable  K1 III incorporating the K3III technology and ergonomics may depend on having access to a wider range of top quality lenses; a big ask for a niche product, unless a partnership with another lens maker can be arranged?
