Thank you for your input. It wasn’t actually an option for me here as my tripod was tucked nicely away in my closet at my home about 500km away from where this was shot - didn’t directly expect to witness an volcanic eruption in an area where it hasn’t erupted in centuries. Sometimes you just need to work with what you have and having the darkness in mind here, freezing cold and the wind in mind, although not clinically perfect, the outcome surprised my expectations. The rest is for the audience to intrepid. 😊

Yes, of course it is not easy to find solutions for difficult photographic conditions. Perhaps shooting at iso 3200 or even iso 6400 would have been enough to allow the camera's IS to resolve the motion blur.
And there are many good raw converters that can make the high iso noise disappear. It is a pity, because the photo could have been much improved, better next time
