I think we are seeing an exodus of former Sigma users.  They are headed to the promised lands of better image quality and more megapixels.

And, like the Israelites, we seem to be wandering in the desert for forty years.

Meanwhile Sigma spent a decade and a half developing the unique rendering that the Foveon sensor makes possible.  This counts for something.

With feature sizes available today, a planar version of Foveon could be more viable than the more difficult three layer photodiode tech of the past.

Tweak the CFA passbands, install a diffuser above each quad, and apply Sigma rendering and we could be there, again, better than ever.

I think there is a lot of potential for the near future!
