Scott,

Remove the filter carefully, clean your sensor with the proper cleaning items and put the filter back in place following the instructions & you'll be good to go for next couple of years.

Hi, what are the proper cleaning items? Asking as my Q-H has some spots on the sensor. I have used Lenspen/Sensorpen successfully on Sony sensors, would it be OK on a Q-H sensor? Or is there something particular required?

Some people do it step-by-step.

1) shoot something white, de-focused.

2) use a "rocket" blower or equal

3) check image - repeat 1)

4) if bad, use a special dust-attracting brush

5) check image - repeat 1)

6) if still bad - use the wet/damp pad kind.

7) check image - repeat 1)

I'll add that I went straight to the wet method, using the most pure alcohol I could find on a lens cleaning tissue, which I had wrapped on a cotton swab. I had to do it four or five times to get everything off the sensor. It seemed to work fine on my Sigma SD-14, so I'm sure it will work fine when I do it on my SD1 Merrill. I won't bother with my SD Quattro H now, since it's broken, and if I send it in to get fixed, they'll probably clean the sensor for me.

8) if still bad - send it in
