M5 and M50 at the Gannet Colony

A bit of fun with the M5 and M50 the other evening at the Gannet Colony. Location: Muriwai, New Zealand.

Great shots! They make a considerable impact on the viewer. The first image has an added layer of orange color that I would expect to see only when the sun is virtually in the frame or with a warming filter applied . Ocean spray can (and does) accentuate it if you're closer to sea level. But it has a great impact and a sense of depth as a result. If added, it's a technique often used by VFX artists doing previz work. These images make a great set. The tight shot of the bird with eye detail (above) is really nice with an interesting cyan tint.

The color temperatures in New Zealand are a little different to those in North America. In the mid-West plains of Canada, I've even seen a slight violet hue to the sky... which is quite peculiar to me. Folks viewing your images from Europe might not realize how warm the Golden Hour colors can be down South because their daylight color temperature is closer to 6500k. I'm in Sydney, Australia. Since you presumably reside in New Zealand, you've been gifted with some superb subjects and scenery to shoot. It's really nice to see these shots taken with the M-series cameras and you make a great case for anyone contemplating them. I look forward to seeing more!
