Everyone has different needs... To be honest, when I started this thread it was more about the focal lengths than the apertures, but I digress.

Well, basically, your are advocating in favour of a prime set where focal lenght doubles from lens to lens. Also agree with your starting FL of 20mm as going wider is not something I do often. 35vs40 is really not that much of a difference in perspetive (though I know that some very serious photographers believe 45mm to be the one and only ). Again, the difference between 80 and 85 is not significant.
