I have a G6 and G7 plus several others. Not about to ‘upgrade’ yet but I know what the difference is with the G80 because I have a GX80 with most of the same features.

The G6 actually does everything I want from a walk around camera and it is even lighter than the G7. Until the G6 fails, it is possible, though improbable, that I will be able to resist further camera upgrades. In the unlikely event of the G6 failing any time soon, the G9 beckons, at which point the G7 would take over walking around [for hours] duties due to its reasonable weight and perfect balance with either my favourite 14-140 lens or my 100-300.

I have not owned the G7, but still use my G6 along with my G9. The cameras are very different and I like both for different reasons. The G6 is easy to carry on all day hikes, etc. The G9 is weather sealed for shooting in light rain, fog, etc. Plus, works better with longer lens. I love the little lever on my G6 to change light settings.

I haven't done much picture taking or photography over the last few dull winter lock-down months but happened to take the G6 out for a walk yesterday. Still love it. It is more 'basic' and the controls far more sensitive than others but that is part of its delightful character. Light to carry and requires a light touch to use.

It was its first time out for three months and I didn't prepare and the first couple of shots had the ISO set at 1600 and were over exposed with the f2.8 lens setting. Soon got back in the groove though. Chimping has a lot going for it. LOL.
