The D850 is the greatest DSLR ever made. There are people who are committed to being DSLR shooters and not upgrading because they don't feel it's necessary to what they do. It gets said a lot, but it's probably very similar to film vs. digital.

But I sold my for a Z6 II and I don't really regret it. It's much more versatile. I can live stream, vlog with it, shoot weddings, portraits. And it's all generally much easier than using a D850 would be. It's not as good for sports and wildlife, but that isn't what I use my camera for.

For a lot of people, the D850 will handle all of their needs and they won't see the point in switching unless they're asked to do video or Nikon really nails eye AF and tracking in a mirrorless D850.
