The Prograde CFx and XQD requires a driver, which caused issues with most users, as the driver is provided by Sony and out of date. It rendered by MBP unbootable. I sent the unit back and got a Sony MRW-G1 instead.

Shortly after ProGrade removed the driver link, so who knows how it works now

There is downloadable solution released by ProGrade which enables their PG-04 reader to recognize both XQD and CFRExpress cards in Macs manufactured through late 2020. As of now the reader does not work at all with newer Macs equipped with the M1 chip.
