AF-L on Sony A7(R) III

I've used to shoot with plenty of cameras from other vendors Pentax, Ricoh, Fuji, Olympus, all had a simple way of putting the camera into MF, autofocusing and locking the focus till the next time the AF-L button is pressed.

1. I know this is different the back-button focus, but this is what I need. Is there something similar with Sony cameras? Have I simply missed a setting in the menu?

2. Also, other vendors allow to use focus-zoom before locking the AF. This helps to pinpoint the AF. Is there a way to AF-L on a focus-zoomed portion of the screen?

Thanks
