managed to get out and photograph birds away from my garden. Took a trip to RSPB St. Aidan's this week. My first trip out of lockdown and well worth the short travel. The reserve was quieter than the area near to me where I normally exercise. The only problems were the light was awful, and it was freezing. Plus I was very rusty, as hadn't used a monopod for months and it took some time getting used to it again. The positive was I saw a Slavonian Grebe, Podiceps auritus which is extremely rare in England and a new lifer for me. So here's a collection of shots I did manage.

Wigeon, Anas penelope

Great Crested Grebe, Podiceps cristatus

Mute Swan, Cygnus olor

Cormorant, Phalacrocorax carbo

Lesser Redpoll, Acanthis cabaret

Slavonian Grebe, Podiceps auritus
