Nikon Capture NX-D & View NX-i replaced by NX Studio

Attention Nikon owners:

I just learned though an e-mail from Nikon that Capture NX-D and View NX-i are replaced by one new program called NX Studio.

Here are links to the NIKONUSA site and the download center for downloading NX Studio:

https://www.nikonusa.com/en/index.page

https://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/download/sw/195.html

I downloaded it and installed it, and it removed my previous installation of CNX-D and VNX-i. The interface is mostly like the old CNX-D, but there are some differences that will require getting used to. One initial gripe, they removed the u-arrow icon for reverting a picture back to original settings. It seems to be snappier than CNX-D; hopefully it is a more polished code now.

I wish they would add a feature for watermarking photos on export as is the case with Lightroom. If I want to watermark a JPEG file I want to display, I need to fight the detestable Lightroom catalog system to get at the applicable picture.

Overall, I prefer the Nikon program for editing NEFs because I am not into heavy-handed post processing and I like to adjust picture control settings in-camera for a desired result. This software gives what the camera gives, unlike Lightroom.

Try it out and good luck!
