Today I took out my new Meike 28/2.8 for the first time. The contrasty light made photography tough. Given the tough light, I’m not prepared to draw any definitive conclusions about the lens. I’ll take it out some more when we have more diffused light and shoot it at a greater variety of aperture settings. But what I’m seeing in this first round of photos is encouraging — sharp with good contrast. It has some barrel distortion fixable in Lightroom. So, here we go with a few samples.
So far, I’m not seeing anything disappointing, and that surprises me for a $50 lens.

'At our best and most fortunate we make pictures because of what stands in front of the camera, to honor what is greater and more interesting than we are. We never accomplish this perfectly, though in return we are given something perfect -- a sense of inclusion. Our subject thus redefines us, and is part of the biography by which we want to be known.' --Robert Adams, Why People Photograph
