Backing up huge capacity HDDs
2

No reflection on a different thread in which I posted recently but something I've been wondering about for quite a while now.

There are huge capacity HDDs now like 14TB and 16TB.  And some folks may have RAID 0, 5 or 6 systems of similar or greater capacity.  If they are used for daily data storage, how does one back them up?

Even if incremental backups are used to minimize the amount of data to be backed up, there's still a need to do full backups periodically.  Like once a week, once every 2 weeks,  etc.

So if a 16TB is 3/4 full (the reason why a 16TB HDD was needed in the first place), how many hours (days?) does it take to do a full image backup?  Also, it appears that one would need multiple 16TB drives holding just one backup each kept offline, to have several successive copies of backups for safety.

Referring to full backups that are removed from the system when backups are not in progress, how are full backups managed on these types of systems?
