And if you ever decide to upgrade, consider the 80-200 AFS if you can find one that doesn't squeak. They're easily optically superior to the older 80-200 lens formula. The difference is painfully obvious at 200mm.

Like the later 70-200's, the AFS version of the 80-200 is very sharp wide open, at any focal length. F2.8 is nearly indistinguishable from f4. There's no penalty for being wide open when you need the extra light or shallow depth of field.

Very heavy crops to show details. The only difference is f2.8 vs f4. Both shots hand held.
