Re: A point to ponder and some history

Hi,

your post made me remember a humorous/satirical show I saw on TV some days ago were a supposed "tic toc coach" should prepare two mid aged politicians for usage of social media for upcoming elections. As to be expected, they started addressing the public in a first attempt by a speech, resulting with the coach falling asleep in a few seconds. Then the coach oriented the clueless politicians that they should care for catching the audience in just a few seconds - for example by wearing funny clothes and/or some funny dancing, you name it.

The point is that for "us" longer-time-youngsters reading and writing for both information searching and comunication is (still) a pretty common place. Finding out what our gear is able to do, how to improve, discussing possible faults. Today a see nephews with their smartphone, watching YT tutorials for almost everything, even for some (basic) cooking. And I don't want to comment on how much useless blah-blah one would need to see on such media to extract some pretty simple handling hints for one's cam (for example). New media is told to be so time efficient for learning - well, be it, as long as its content isn't 90% self promotion only.

And forum-writing in this context is from previous decade (or more). Just hoping it'll last for some more years to come. BTW dpreview's route seems to be with increasing amount of video content...

Best wishes
