Epson 3880 (Other printers) - Cover Dust / Humidity

Interested in how many people (with the Epson 3880) or I suppose other printers use a cover when not printing for more than a week or two. I live in Houston, so not horribly dry usually (except when heat is on in the winter). I have now gotten in habit of unplugging data and power and just use a garbage bag to pull over the printer. Before I close it up, I put a small plastic container with a water-saturated paper towel in it. So ostensibly keeps dust out of it like paper sheet rollers and keeps the environment stable, maybe adds a little humidity. Main reason is to deter head ink clogs. Interested as to what other people do and whether general consensus is whether it matters or not. Thanks.
