I just replaced the 55-250mm stm with the Sigma 100-400mm.

How are you finding the Sigma 100-400. I was looking at that lens as well. Please share your experience with us.

It might need a firmware update, still have to do that. It will take some time to test it, especially AF and IS (not sure if IS is capable of keeping up with the 32Mp crop sensor...).

For now:

- You might need f/7.1 at 400mm to reduce CA in challenging situations.

- AF slows down (longer FL's, relatively low light, small single AF point) sometimes, but it doesn't hunt. As soon as it gets at the point of focus, it locks.  I think that's a great improvement over the 55-250mm. That lens is always slow focusing anyway,  but misses the point of focus sometimes nonetheless, and in those cases you can pour yourself a cup of coffee before it will ever come close to focus again.....  (not a problem at it's price point though).  I didn't try if eventual firmware updates would give further improvements.

- corrections for vignette work in camera

I got mine used for 450 euro.  I think it's worth that price.

Used Sigma EF glass is truly bang for your buck.  The next step is a used Canon EF mkII, and that lens is better, absolutely, but you have to pay 3 times as much (and it's considerably heavier too).
