EOS RP issue in colder weather

i have an issue with my "new" (purchased june 2020) eos rp where the sensor seems to be wigging out in even moderately cool weather (40-50°F). didn't notice it all summer, and it took a few times out in the cold before i realized that that seemed to be the common factor. here's a video of what it does, taken from the camera itself (epilepsy warning):

after a minute or two of this, it settles down and will take somewhat normal pictures, though if you zoom in on them you can still see some artifacts that i assume are related.

when the camera warms up again, it works fine again.

i assume this is going to require a repair - any experience or guesses from what i can expect from this monetarily and time-wise? i purchased the camera online and still have the paperwork, but am unsure of how good canon is with their warranty customer service.
