Canon EOS R5 loses focus on circling birds
2

I'm just staring to use my EOS R5 and I may have the settings wrong but today I had the AF on region and was taking pictures of circling birds.  I was using my Tamron 160-600mm lens

When the auto focus worked it was great but sometimes as the birds circled even though the bird was in the AF region the camera would lose focus and I had to go back to a wider field of view to reacquire the bird since focus was so off I couldn't even see the bird as a blur.
I can't swear that the bird didn't leave the AF box but I don't think it did in at least some of the times this happened.  I had it on Servo.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
