You know me so well... that EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS STM is one of my favorite lenses.

Yeah, I’ve been seriously thinking about getting another 55-250. (I don’t think I’m ever getting mine back from my sister! ).

Is the EF-S 55-250 that much better than the EF-M 55-200 to warrant the extra weight of lens and adaptor?

Unfortunately that is one I cannot help with. The 55-200 is the only EF-M lens that I don't own. And I don't have the 55-250 around here any more to do a comparison on the M6ii. There's a lot of anecdotal evidence floating around, but I don't want to make a claim that I cannot back up with images of my own.

I can say however (for myself) that I would not hesitate to purchase the EF-S 55-250 STM if it fit the bill. And as I mentioned before, I may get it anyway. The size/weight of the combo would not bother me at all on hikes, as I spent all last year with the chunk-a-monk EF 100-400ii + 1.4x TC + adapter on my M6ii (which BTW performed admirably, save for BIFs)...

M6ii + 100-400ii + 1.4x iii + adapter (900mm FF equiv @ f/8).  Click on "original size" with these...

M6ii + 100-400ii + 1.4x iii + adapter

M6ii + 100-400ii + 1.4x iii + adapter

M6ii + 100-400ii + 1.4x iii + adapter

But like I said, the 100-400 is a Big Boy (on the M bodies), and I'd really love to see what the EF-S 55-250 + 1.4x (560mm FF equiv @ f/8) would be like on the very capable M6ii.  And at about 1/10th the price to boot!
