It's worth investing in, if it gives you the images you want and makes you smile.

As far as selling what you have? Hard decision. I've noted myself personally, selling things has become VERY stubborn vs before the pandemic, things would fly off eBay but the last item I sold to MPB, as it refused to move on eBay and those fees and now taxes add up.

My 2 cents? The time to sell used camera gear, EF-M or otherwise, has passed (and getting the dollar you want).

The one outlier to this argument is the present shortage of production capabilities has created certain shortages and thus opportunity to sell things at a higher price. But, that's if they'll move, again. There is both less supply and less demand at the moment in my observation.

My gut? You have a 70D, it's in fact a pretty good beast as is. If, that's not good enough, the M6 II and some fast EF-M glass should be on your radar (22 f/2, 32/1.4, and Sigmas) as those were out of reach for you 70D.

It's not an investment though financially; I personally have made my money back, but, that's because I bought low, sold high. Lately I can't do either (buy it cheap, or sell it back for a decent dollar).

The real question you should ask, do you need an R?

I'll answer that from my experience, it's only truly needed if you need a fast zoom, say a 24-105 f/4L, or better or other specialized glass available to the RF mount. Otherwise, there's the M...
