I'm currently shooting BIF ... I tend to shoot 5-10fps.

I've narrowed down my choices to:

A7RIV/100-400/shoot in crop mode to reach 600mm

A9/100-400/1.4xTE to reach 560mm

Both the A7RIV and A9 should give me a vastly better AF-C experience than the Fuji. I'm leaning towards the A7RIV. I'm not terribly concerned about A7RIV's higher ISO noise (vs the A9) and don't necessarily need very high fps.

So I’m going to go against the grain here. I’m by no means an experienced BIF shooter but I have done some with both my A9 w/ 1.4 TC on the 100-400 and my A7RIV. If I was grabbing one setup for general wildlife it would be the R4, but for BIF the A9 gets the nod. Main reasons: no blackout shooting makes tracking much easier, I do find 20 FPS very useful to get the ideal shot with fast moving action and I’m betting image quality at the ISOs needed for crisp action shots out of either would also be very comparable or even better.

General wildlife that doesn’t move as fast and the extra pixels of the R4 wins the day, but for BIF give me the A9. A9 w/ 100-400 and 1.4 tc, cropped:
