I just think its an apples to oranges comparison and they are aimed at different audiences all together.

Well, I'll put out there that the 32mm 1.4 for the M is a better lens than the RF 50mm. The Sigma 30mm 1.4 for the M isn't as good but still really good for $279.  The M and the 22mm is tiny, too small for some people.

There might not be super long lens for the m system but those are pretty specialized.

Maybe Canon will start putting out cheaper non L lenses for the RF mount. They have a few now. And you can always adapt the older EF lenses so there is that.

For the M, it's really easy to find a very lightly used 55-200mm on Ebay for around $200 which gives you a cheap decent longer zoom. It'll probably come from Japan but I've never had an issue with Japanese sellers.

If you are really going to go in on Canon FF mirrorless, then you it is an investment once you start buying the L lenses which are a lot of what is out there now.

I bought an M50 with the kit 15-45 refurbished from Canon for something like $400 last year.

To be fair, I also picked up the RP with that 24-105 for $999 in October but that deal is over and I believe Canon is supposed to be releasing a new consumer RF mount camera supposedly under $999 sometime. It probably won't have IBIS, weather sealing, dual card slots, etc and be strictly a consumer level camera. Maybe if that sells we'll see more consumer RF lenses.
