Sudden underexposure of photos even in full light

Okay, so I’m at a loss. I have a D3400 that I’ve been using for years. I just started shooting in Manual mode in the last year and I feel I have become pretty good at it. Until one day this past week I picked up my camera to take some shots of my daughter and every picture I took came out SUPER under exposed. My Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO are all set where I would normally set them. The exposure compensation is set to 0.0. The exposure meter is reading fully underexposed and I have even gotten the “subject is too dark” pop up. This is happening even when I point the camera out the window on a bright sunny day. The meter still shows underexposed. I’m not sure what else to do and I’ve searched google a million different ways and am finding nothing.
