False spring on Hanlon Creek

Today felt like a spring day, but those of us who have lived in this region for a while know that winter is just taunting us. We have many cold days to go before the real spring arrives.

The weather has been grey and gloomy lately, so I didn't miss the chance to visit the creek when the sun came out in the later afternoon. During the real spring, there will be a lot more water here from all the melting snow.

Snarls and tangles from the last flood

The grass is dead for now, but the hummock will be back soon

Afternoon sunlight reflects the shoreline trees in the water

Fuji GFX 50R and Schneider-Kreuznach Componon-S 180mm f/5.6. Toyo VX23D provided the tilt.

This Componon-S 180/5.6 was up for sale recently because I couldn't control the veiling flare even with extensions on the hood. It dawned on me that I need to control the flare from the back end. The huge image circle was sending stray light all over the place. A simple baffle inserted in the adapter, and I now have an extremely sharp (and cheap) 180mm lens that shifts 20mm without breaking a sweat.
