I stumbled onto a very interesting thing today searching for information about pixel pitch and resolution and I thought I'd share it here for the technical minded. The page is by scientist and photographer, Roger Clark, PhD. I've only begun to dig into the site, but it is a formidable resource about the science of digital cameras and optics.
This one article covers a ton of information about sensors.

Mr. Clark's biography is fascinating from his scientific work and projects for USGS and NASA to his award winning images. He is a modern day renaissance man. I love the home made feel of the site all the work went into content - and boy is there a lot of it. Some nice photographs as well.
