Breakthrough Photography filters

So I just received my first ever Breakthrough Photography filter, 77mm UV X4, that I was planning on using with my RF 100-500L.  I just can't do it, use a lens naked without a filter.  So I thought I'd get the best there was supposed to be.

I shone my flashlight on it and noticed some micro scratches on the glass or coating.  Not the best first impression, will try to exchange it for another one.  If that one also isn't perfect, guess I'll go back to my trusty B+W filters.

What are supposed to be the best protective filters out there?  I've seen some tests by Roger Cicala, with B+W always scoring decently, along with a few other brands, but it didn't test every aspect.  But what is objectively the best of the best for UV/Clear filters?
